I've finally decided to try FF, so I recently d/l v2.0.0.5, installed it and made it my default browser. However, I'm having some beginner issues...
1. Every time I click on a URL I get the 'Open With' window. Although I know how to specify FF as the program to use and I click the box to always use FF to open this kind of file, it's not remembering to do that! Next time I try to open the URL, it's dejavu all over again. Where am I going wrong?
2. Although I see there's a way to send (email) a link with the File drop-down menu, I prefer an icon on my tool bar. How can I do that?
TIA

1. Have you tried looking under Folder Options > File Types?
2. I have not tried it myself but you could try Email This! Bookmarklet Extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3102).

And if that doesn't solve those issues, try Opera! ;)

-{ Quote: "2. I have not tried it myself but you could try Email This! Bookmarklet Extension." }-Unfortunately, this extension is not compatible with MS Outlook.

Joking aside, if I can't solve these issues Opera is next on my short-list!

Sorry I should of specified I was referring to the Windows control panel.
As for the toolbar button you can try the Custom Buttons extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2707) and then post a request in their forums (http://custombuttons.phpbbnow.com/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=ca8eea3b233a7436b97b1a0278b7e929) for the function you want. I dont believe the button you want has been done yet.

Go into Program Access and Defaults and reset FF as your default browser.
Just may jog something from there.

I have been using FF for a few years and never experienced your problem. I have kept IE as my default browser and use it strictly for incoming e-mails using a browser, and windows updates. If I boot up and want to use a browser I always use FF. This has worked for me. FF has it all over IE. As for Opera, I used it along side FF back when I was trying to pick one, and after some months decided on FF. I think Opera is geared to the teens and younger crowd. Just look at their GUI and Community Center. Plus I had some problems accessing certain web sites. Other than that it is a good browser, but I prefer FF with more extras.:)

Apparently the setting within FF to make it the default browser doesn't work very well... Forcing this by using the Run command found on the Default_browser webpage (provided above by Basic) solved my 'Open With' problem.
I also found an e-mail icon extension that works with MS Outlook 2007 here (http://webdesigns.ms11.net/getmail.html).
Now I can start enjoying FF (I hope)! ;)
