I am not getting a sound when Avira finds a detection. It says the default sound will be used if you don't supply your own wav file. Anyone know what's up?

Do you have the 'acoustic alert' boxes checked for both the scan and guard?

Maybe your motherboard doesn't have a system speaker (built-into the motherboard). I'm not sure what the reasoning is but it does (like the one in DOS, or beep when you boot-up, or get a hard freeze).

you might try useing one of your own wav file for the alert. I use one I found on the net and it works just fine:thumb:

It's a very weak sound and "blah". Get your own sound.

What sort of sound do you want?
Windows system sounds are by default kept in C:\Windows\Media, Avira I'm not sure, but suggest you look for it in the Avira program files..look for a .wav or .mp3, most likely. (Probably a wav)
There are many system and funny sorts of event sounds available to download. Excerpts form TV shows and movies are popular. Noises/quotes abound from programs like the Simpsons, Star Trek, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Friends....aircraft noises, air horns, toilet flushing, car crash...it's almost as though your imagination is the limit. About half my default system sounds have been altered or replaced.
Just Google for funny (or cool) wav sounds. Many sites. Some a bit suspect, many OK. You probably don't want to install a sound that's too long, though, a few seconds at most. Have a ball.

Thanks for the help! I found a site that offers daily wavs. I picked an Arnold Schwarzenegger line from the Running Man. "I'll be back - Only in a rerun".

Kav apparently has a squealling pig sound, so how about a sound like you'd get when stepping on a cats tail for Avira.;) ;D :P

KAV's is a wild boar, extremely loud and will give you a heart attack...or at least knock you off your chair. :D
