Online Armour: do I need it?

Hi Guys

Just interested in your views.

After having to rebuild my PC from a virus infection I've spent time on this great forum and as such am running Outpost v3.51 with KAV6.0.2.621 (Realtime protection, File and Mail Protection enabled, Web and Proactive Defense disabled to avoid conflict with KAV..), Reg Defend and App Defend, Worm Guard, CBO Clean, Link Scanner Pro & Snoop free behind a Linksys NAT Router. Used Computer Security Tool, HardenIT and SecureIT, Windows Worm Doors Cleaner (think thats what its called) to close down ports.

That set up is now about a year old and my KAV and OP licenses due to expire in the near future.

I like KAV and now hear about Online Armour with Comodo FW doing well in the latest round of leaktests.

Should I upgrade my setup with OA? Or am I fine without it? Any suggestions to lock down my setup when Im online further?

Any thoughts pls?

Your setup already offers much of the protection in OA and you have quite an arsenal of realtime apps as it is.

However if you do decide to go with Online Armor, it would be a replacement for AppDefend and Snoopfree.

You have very good up front protection. It is hard to keep up with the latest test results. I have had Outpost Firewall Pro, KAV & BOClean in place for a few years now and don't plan to switch. If the program is in the top tier of its class the only reason I would switch is a compatibility issue with my other programs. I don't need to have the best leaktest, etc. test results all the time. A good layered approach (which you have) will keep you safe along with keeping up with operating system and program updates.

Couple of free programs you may want to consider: Free version of SUPERAntispyware as an extra on demand scanner along with occasional KAV scans. Maybe an MVPS Hosts file (I use it with HostsXpert to manage it).

You can try OA+ version which has a Firewall, Mailshield, Webshield, Program Guard and Antivirus (Kaspersky).

Thanks - yes m,aybe that might be an option when my KAV6 license expires - I hadnt seen OA+. My App Defend hasnt been developed much since I bought it - much like Process Guard which I abandoned in favour of AD. Looks like AD has a fair bit of competition now. Will wait and see.. Thanks!
