I think my external hard disk's MFT became corrupted. It is 250GB in five partitions. I am unable to access the files on any of the partitions.

Data recovery tools seems to be able to restore the files, but I would like to know if ATI Home 10 can help.

I read in another forum that somebody was able to restore a drive's MFT by using Ghost with the switch -IA which forces Ghost to perform a sector-by-sector copy of all partitions which backed up fine and he was able to copy onto a new disk.

Is this type of backup available in ATI Home 10?

Antonimo,

Have a look at the drive with Partition Table Doctor. It may have a solution.

Hi Brian K,

Many thanks for the tip - the program looks promising - I'll give it a whirl.

Hello Antonimo,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

Acronis True Image will be able to create a backup of the drive even if the filesystem is unrecognizable/corrupted. However, please notice that Acronis True Image does not correct filesystem errors, the purpose of the product is preventing data loss by creating backups before the disaster strikes. You can back up and restore already corrupted filesystem, but it will be restored in the exact same corrupted state, and will need to be repaired by third party tools.

You can learn more about Acronis True Image on our official website (http://www.acronis.com/).

Thank you.
