Monitor issue hurts my eyes.

My Monitor has suddenly developed a slow wave, ripple or shimmer in the screen display. It is very slow and hardly noticeable, however it causes eye strain due to focus issues. :wacko: :ouch:

What is this? Any adjustments or screen changes to fix? ???

I had a simmiler issue a few years back due to a digital camera software install.I don't remember the cure only that the problem was because the software/camera took stills as well as short movie clips.
Have you installed anything new latley?

As an additional forward the monitor's make, and model. Check too if there's a video driver update available.

Degauss the monitor, could also be interference issues.

Degaussed the monitor first time I noted the issue.... no effect on the problem. In fact it made it worse only for a few minutes and then stablized back to the original wave or slow shimmer.

I am currently reviewing GlobalForce recommendations and link for solutions. Thanks.

The monitor is an Emachine it was originally with another PC but it has been operating with this PC without issues for months.

To better describe the problem imagine taking a bed sheet and whipping it like you want to make it lie flat and without wrinkles. Now imagine it in slow motion. The image on the screen is the bed sheet. Now you have an idea of the sympton I am experiencing visually.

Is it sorta like the PowerShadow screen wave? Did you ever have it installed? I doubt thats the problem though. What type of monitor, crt or lcd? and what's the model #?

Thanks for the replies and help. I think I might have fixed it. I am still watching it carefully. :shifty: :shifty: .

By the way it is an Eview 1712 model 786N CRT.

That is a good idea to BigC. I kept wondering if I need to change a setting, but could not think...what? what? ???

Any way the change that may have solved it. Here goes:

I had slid an AC adapter power supply "block" directly underneath and to the back of the CRT monitor. I have since moved it from underneath and about 7 inches away. I am looking really hard to see if it is still happening and I do not detect it. :blink: :blink: .

I think this may have cured it. In which case we can write this one off to interference.

That power block really was awfully close to the CRT and certainly could have been the cause don't you think?

I'll post back if I see any change for the worst, but this issue might be cured. :) :)
