View Full Version : Enabling S3 standby, allowing wake on net activity, and...

So here's the thing. I've finally gotten around to setting up my rig for S3 standby either on demand or after 30 minutes of inactivity (for my fellow readers, yes, this was inspired by MaxPC), but because I use my home computer via remote desktop often, I need to have it configured to wake on NIC activity. So I did just that.

The problem is this: there seems to be a bit of net activity every now and again that, if the computer even makes it to S3, wakes it right back up again, thus negating any benefit I'd have seen from standby. Has anyone faced a similar problem, and if so, how can I have my cake (consistent S3) and eat it, too (remote desktop connectivity)?
