Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe later I'll put Outpost back on, but I'm not sure. I've been trying different firewalls because ZAP has a problem with TH Guard.

Specify.

I don't want to go into it much because it's off-topic, but vsmon has CPU spikes when TH Guard is enabled.

Bah, this is the 'other firewalls' forum. sure, the thread topic may be 'ghost v1.0' leaktest, but I doubt they won't mind - I think we're safe ;D

Besides, I can MAKE it on-topic!

So now let's just say:

"U were using ghost v1.0 when you saw a CPU spike caused by TH & vsmon." ;)
- Did CPU usage reach 100% ?
- When you say 'spike', does it mean a "split-second" spike, or a peak that lasts a few seconds? The latter would be far more disturbing...

Vsmon spikes into the teens or 20s in CPU every 10 seconds or so for just for a second when TH Guard is running. When TH Guard is off, it stays at 2-5. Ghost had no effect. ;D

Hmmm... no such problems here - stays around 2-3%, peaks are RARE (less than one/minute) and last about 1/10th of a second - or a fraction of a second, ie. instantaneous of the human scale - these are probably due to vsmon only. I have ZA, TH & Nod32 (plus P2P app & other apps) running on Win2k+SP4.

What R your specs? Uusing Win9x? Win2k? WinXP?

splitted. Please open a new thread for each specific issue

Thanks for making it into a new topic. :)

I'm on Windows XP Home. What does your CPU spike to for vsmon, Morgoth?

Darn, my post went into oblivion, must be the thread splitting or sometin...

So as I wuz saying (...):

It's "mirco-peaks", more like: up to 8-9%, every 2 minutes or so. Or sometimes up to 30%, but very occasionally, and these are most likely not related even to vsmon. Remember, there's a far more unstable "app" lying beneath, it's called Windows ;D
And we all know how fickle Microsh*t Windows is...

And as I said, in any case, peaks are instantaneous, thus have near-null impact on system 8)

It is the the vsmon CPU that can go up to 30 every 10 seconds or so, for about a second - total CPU usage can go to near 50 during spikes.

I was talking about the global CPU load only, so vsmon must be even less.

Anyways, I don't have this vsmon/TH prob, so it may be due to a combination of vsmon+TH+WinXP+Bad luck, who knows...

Could also be due to the TH & vsmon versions you're using. I have the latest of both: ZA 4.5 & TH 3.7.

Someone offered to give me an older version of THGuard - we'll see what happens. I have the same versions you do.
