Hi all. I am trying to watch some dvd clips of a tv show I recorded onto a dvd. But windows media player 11 says I don't have a compatible dvd decoder installed on my computer. I have XP home edition. I tried to download off the net some free player that said it had the dvd decoder installed. Bad move on my part...could have been much worse had Nod32 not saved the day.

Anyways, I see the decoder is for sale on M$.com but I would hope there is a free media player with a dvd decoder or someplace to download a free dvd decoder. I am trying to play a tv show I recorded on a dvd+r disk.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Give Media Player Classic a try.

I'll download that again and give it a try. I have not had any luck with MPC for some reason...it freezes whenever I try to play it. There must be something wrong with my computer because I have heard nothing but great things about MPC. I'll try it again though.

It may not make a difference but try this build of MPC (http://tibrium.neuf.fr/).

If that doesnt work, try VLC Player or GOM Player.
