Hi,

I ask myself wether I must use TI Server for backin up my SBS-2003-System, because TI Home seems to do that job perfectly. The main reason for considering this is, that Universal Restore option for TI Server cost 275 €, but Universal Restore option for TI Home only 27,50 €.

Could someone give me a fair respond without having $ signs in the eyes? ;)

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Hello Trinkhalle,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/products/).

Please notice that Acronis Univesal Restore is only available for corporate versions of Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/choose-trueimage/), not for Acronis True Image 10.0 Home (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/features.html).

Please be aware that Acronis Universal Restore takes part during the restore procedure, not during backing up. Versions of Acronis Universal Restore for different versions of Acronis True Image will recognize different operating systems inside the image (for example, Acronis Universal Restore (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISWin/universal-restore.html) for Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Windows (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISWin/features.html) or that (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATIESWin/universal-restore.html) for Acronis True Image 9.1 Enterprise Server (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATIESWin/features.html) will recognize Windows 2003 Server operating system, while Acronis Universal Restore (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATICW/universal-restore.html) for Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATICW/features.html) will not). The image can be created by any version of Acronis True Image (of the older or same build).

You can find the detailed instructions on how to use Acronis True Image in the respective User's Guide (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/download/docs/).

Thank you.

Hi Marat,

thanks for replying.

So if I got you right I can backup and restore the server system with any version of TI, but a restore to a system with different hardware would only work with one of the server versions of Universal Restore?

Thanks again,
Tim

Hello Trinkhalle,

Please be aware that different versions of Acronis True Image support different operating systems (listed on our official website (http://www.acronis.com/) in the respective sections). While you could back up and restore any operating system using Acronis Bootable Rescue Media, we cannot guarantee that unsupported ones will be bootable after such operation.

Thank you.
