View Full Version : Suggestion for backup

I run my backups unattended over night using a removable 200GB drive for the target. Occasionally, I'll see an error message in the morning that the backup had a problem writing to the target media. A single retry will almost always succeed. I would like TI to automatically retry a write error at least several times before halting with the error message. Perhaps this could be an option for the backup task?

Hello nreiter,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
Could you please let us know the exact error message you have received? Please also check the disks for errors:
- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r", where DISK is the partition letter you need to check.
Please also note that if you want us to change the behavior of Acronis True Image in any way or add some new features to this product, please feel free to post any of your suggestions in Acronis True Image WISH-LIST thread (http://wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=85595).
Thank you.

I'll do a screen capture the next time the error comes up. I have run CHKDSK on the target drive and it's fine. As I said, a single retry will almost always let the backup continue. If TI would just do a few retries, say 3 or make it user configurable, before throwing the error, I would never see the message unless the error were really a permanent error on the drive.
