Is there a freeware antivirus that can be burned and installed to a pc that can't connect to the internet?

I'm pretty sure most av's could be installed on a computer with no internet connection. You'd have to download the latest install file plus the latest signature file so you can update it manually once installed.

1. Is an AV really needed on a PC that is not on-line?

2. How would you obtain the free AV ot put on the PC if you can't connect to the net?

Strange question. Could you give some more details?

1) Sure, why not? Malware can come from external media, network, and other means. Maybe the pc was online at one time.....anything is possible.
2) Burn to a cd/dvd, copy to a flash drive/ext. hard drive, etc.

Antivir, Avast!, AVG, AOL AVS, and other freeware installers can be copied to the pc w/out internet. Does this pc have the ability to connect to the internet?

maybe you should be forgetting AV and looking more at HIPS or sandbox?

GeSWall, Defensewall, Cyberhawk etc.

Are you looking for a scanner only?
If so,Dr.Web's CureIt and McAfee's Stinger are free.
They don't update.

Yeh, download any free av plus the latest signature update file, burn it to a cd then install on the offline computer.
