I would really like to have a pic below my name in the forums. I have many downloaded that I use in Messenger but when I try to download onto the site I get a message that the pic is too big. Is there a way round this please?

Do I need to create a Website to host Avatar's and if so can anyone recommend an idiots guide to setting one. Once I have done this would I be able to make a link on another Website so they can come view Battlefield 1942 films that me and my boy are in the process of making?

Hi Cyborg,

The FAQ on avatars: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=11832

If you could attach the image you would like for an avatar to your next post, we have several wizards that will fit it to suit your needs in no time.
If it is merely a question of linear resizing I might manage to do it myself. ;)

Pieter

Cyborg,

Simply download (for free) Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/), read the instructions (it's a piece of cake), and resize your prefered downloaded avatar. After that, load it up to our server from your profile.

No other websites/links needed.

Thanx Pieter I will try that but I am also interested in the Freeware that PAUL has suggested.

Paul as well as the main programme version 3.85 of Irfanview do I also need the PlugIns?

On their site there are 2 downloads, the programme and they also recommend the following:-

"Please use always the current IrfanView and PlugIn version ...."

A small point I know but slightly confusing if you are me lol.

No, you won't need them - consider these as a bonus ;)

:) Hi Cyborg!

I have used Irfanview for a very long time. You'll find Resize/Resample in the Image menu. When you have your image to the size you want, you may want to sharpen it. Resizing images often makes them a little blurred. Sharpen is in the same menu. If you want to determine how much it is sharpened, then use the Effects Browser (also in the same menu). Highlight Sharpen in the Effects Browser and it will give you a before and after picture and a little box where you can set any percentage value you wish. Then Apply it to your pic and Save it. If you want to retain your original image as before you started, then use Save-As instead.

Hope this helps you. :)

Yup . . u would need a website for that. Check with your isp . . . or google search for a free webhosting site.

Hi Cyborg,

Uguel posted some very good instructions on using Irfanview over in this thread...

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15691

Some of the instructions won't apply with regard to the avatar but it describes the resize operation and pitfalls.

Hope this helps ;)
