when my firewall program tells me that an ip address has tried to get in, is there a feature in TDS that allows me to ping them back?

Hi bill_jonas22 and welcome to the forum!
Yes you can, put the IP in the Target Host display and press the P button beside it.

But mind you, the moment you reply in such a way, the other IP knows you're a valid target.

If there are specific reasons why you think you should reply, you might like to find out with the Interrogate scan (in the Plugins) or the Trojan Port scan (plugin) or backdoor Knock if there are open ports there, (or some of the ofther network tools) and past his IP in the UDP broadcast, with some port number you found open, and type something friendly like "would you like an orange juice while you try to hack into my system ma'am?"
as friendlyness is the best protection as long as possible.

Beware if the other side is less friendly! :o
