Right now we are seeing a U.S. Department of Defense sniffer in our firewall logs. the log entry is:
status-d.icq.com=205.188.253.25
Anyone know about this and are you getting the same?

Hi QSection,
Some people have these little ICQ indicators under their avatar, that show whether they are online or not.
I think the request for that information is what you see in your log.
I have these blocked using AdShield, because I don't use ICQ myself, so I couldn't care less who is available for a chat. ;)
And it does slow the loading of pages down sometimes.
HTH,
Pieter

Personally, I also added "web.icq.com" to my Windows Hosts file because very often the time it takes to get the ICQ referenced items from that server is too long, and I don't like my browser hanging on 1 last object it can't load.
127.0.0.1 web.icq.com

Thank you - we have added this to the blocked list. When we ran the IP several hours ago we thought it had come up the U.S.DoD but upon running it again it comes up AOL. ??? Either we were too tired and missed a keystroke or.....? Hmmm - either way it is now blocked. ;D
