Possible Virus?

Well, it seems that I have the worst luck possible. The one time I decide to got on MySpace, horrid I'm aware, I get a message from my sister that looks exactly like this;

Because it was from my sister, I automatically clicked it and after being sent to a very bad site, I quickly exited and am now running a virus scan with McAfee. It hasn't picked up anything yet, however I called my sister and she informed me that this was a virus and she had received the same thing. Now apparently your supposed to get a ton of pop-ups. However I haven't received any and McAfee hasn't informed me of any 'intrusions' in my system. So this brings me to several questions.

1.) I wish to inform my friends about this and make them aware of what is going on. However I don't have any real information on this virus. I would like to know if anyone could either pull something up for me or if they could direct me to the best possible site to obtain information on virus's.

2.) My McAfee isn't exactly the most up-to-date version. If someone could give me a link to more information on updating my current McAfee, I would appreciate it.

3.) Could someone send me information on other anti-virus software? I am an extreme worry wart, so I would really appreciate it.

Right now, I'm so nervous. McAfee has detected 4 files since the beginning of this post, but alas, with my version, I'm unable to see what they are until the scan is complete and boy is it taking a long time. ><

I haven't received any pop-ups yet though, so I'm really hopping they are just a couple easily removable PUP files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like fake codecs aka Trojans to me. FWIW clipwatch-city.com redirects you to http://60088425.real-vegas-sins.com/video/login.html which appears to be pimping ring tones.

2) Run an F-Secure online scan: http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

Your #3 can be answered by browsing this forum. In a nutshell if you want a free AV I would go with AOL AVS or AntiVir. If you don't mind paying for an AV or Internet Security go with Kaspersky.

Thank you for the information. My scan just stoped and luckily, only 4 minor PUP's that I actually wanted to keep, but it deleted anyway. XD

firstly i would download superantispyware free from the link in my signiture.
update it then run a scan.
remove what it finds.
what version of macfee are you running?

McAfee products have been updated several times over the past year. The last ones that I am familiar with are VirusScan 10 and VirusScan 2007, but those have been replaced with VirusScan Plus (which I guess is VirusScan 11). McAfee also used to offer a stand alone firewall program, but now integrated it with the AV program (and also added antispyware components). If you are using the suite program, that also has been updated as well. McAfee says on its website that Versions 9 and older are no longer supported.
