Hello Jeff,
not many people have had any type of normal kaspersky license to work in RC2
most people at the KL forums are using the trial code for now.

no problem with browsing here, as for website cetificates, there's not much that can be done, if you want to scan the stream you have to intercept the certificates (i don't know of any other program which scans https steams to see if it's possible without invalidating the certificate).

No good.
I'm suspecting it will not work on the finished product - they may still honor it but I'd bet it won't wok automatically.

Codes bought for 6.0 will work on this, keys bought for 5.0 will not, my guess is that those which cannot use their key on 7.0 is in this catagory and most have bought a cheap discounted key. I would contact support when 7.0 is released.

While RC3 is running smoothly, I had to use a trial key. Would not accept the three year license from Systweak or a key purchased directly from Kaspersky, both of which work fine on KIS6. Here's hoping the final release will have this fixed.

I agree, its still early. in the KL forums, there are people who cant use their normal purchase keys to work in the V7 RC as well. I believe KL knows about this issue and is definitely working on it. As for the 3 years key, be it cheap discounted key etc or normal price key, i believe they will honour it in terms of upgrade etc, as nothing was mention about the restrictions during the purchasing process. This is between KL and their resellers. not end users. Just my opinion.

I agree Chris, but my worry is, there was no supporting documentation like when you buy from the vendor. As stated 2 threads up, buyers didnt even know it was for 3 years. . First we went through the short period for Kaspersky and the seller to rectify the legitamacy issues of the licenses. I am sure Kaspersky said to themselves, sure we will honor them for 3 years. 3 years of KIS 6. And in the end this is the case, you really cant fault them. I just have a gut feeling about this and I do hope I am wrong.

Folks,
There's one place that this can be unambiguously answered, and that's at the Kaspersky forum.
A license is a license, but the specific language of the pertinent license is what matters. If the product is rebadged in any way - and any way means something as minor as a second vendor logo applied to it - you're not really dealing with KL directly anymore. You're dealing with the rebadged vendor and the license they supply. It's not unusual for this circumstance to provide continuing support (i.e. signatures) but not new engine upgrades.
As with any commercial dealing, assume nothing. The only things that matter are the explicitly written terms provided by the vendor that received your payment.

Let's look on the bright side shall we? Wait until KAV/KIS 7.0 is RTM before making any assumptions about the Systweak 3yr codes, or any other code that you may own. Even if it doesn't work we only paid $18.95 for a one year KIS 6.0 subscription, and the extra 2 years was an added bonus. Kaspersky support has verified on a couple of occasions that the Systweak codes are 100% legit. So unless your code gets blacklisted there is no reason that it won't work on 7.0 IMO, and if you have a problem email Kaspersky support for assistance.

Well I hope they do. As Chris said, "A license is a license." But I think this is Kaspersky way of evening the score for this mess. Part of me does not blame them. I mean if I had just shelled out full price, I would be very unhappy. But they did ok it in the end and by not coming through would do them more harm then the 100 or more free licences they gave away at CastleCops.

I remember Unistal saying a few months back that the upgrade "should" be free (not speaking of this offer directly, but since it was about another product which also had KIS bundled, well) :-\
The problem is that in this case the Systweak keys are licensed to HCL. I hope Unistal doesn't tell people to contact HCL about this. It depends largely upon whether HCL would allow version upgrades. Typically, in bundled AVs, as long as database remains the same product upgrades are not handled by the PC vendor (in India).
@Don Pelotas: Keys bought for 5.0 will not work? :o
Does this mean people who purchased multi year license for 5.0 when it was the latest are not going to get the upgrade to 7.0? :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o
Strange thing is, Kaspersky should know the answer to this question. But if things turn out the BAD way, there's an excellent sales opportunity for Kaspersky to introduce a discounted upgrade price.

Well,
i have send an email to Unistal, (unistal@unistal.com), now waiting to see their reply, but perhaps like what u said, may ask me to refer to HCL. then HCL ask to refer to KL lol... anyway, whatever it is, it is then. 3 yrs for KIS 6 im fine..very soon now, with the launch of KIS 7, ESS will be out pretty soon too. and after using 1 yr plus/2 yrs of KIS 6, then its a good time to see which bundle is the best in terms of value between KL and ESS. judging from the pricing now, seems KL is definitely above my means, 1 year license selling at 50 EUR....

People who bought a multi year license from v5 on are able to use the license for version 7. The only problem is that the key itself is somewhat different so kaspersky needs to change these keys to v7. Offcourse upgrades are free

Well Crapo...s
You have 2 ways to activate KAV/KIS:
a] use activation code (that you get on purchase) in Service - Update(or similiar) menu in main KAV/KIS screen,
OR
b] convert code into a keyfile by enter your email address,& your country here(thanks to ankupan & zapjb) :
https://activation.kaspersky.com/
In this case you get a download link for a zipfile that contains your keyfile & your Customer ID, password to
login in future for renewal etc.
You may use either method a] or b] for your Systweak code after version 7x is released, which its not as yet.
Presently your code should work with KAV/KIS 6x, which is latest released version.
HTH,but pls note I'm just a user ,not a dealer/rep for KAV.

I see talk of the activation link being used for codes and key-making, well I have a key from my activation code.
Anyone that TRULY knows what is up with all this? TR has been out for a few days now so some info must be available from KL. I've received no reply in 2 days so I can't contribute, sadly.

I did convert my systweak code to a Kaspersky key, and see no reason why it won't work. However, at the present time I have 3.5 months on my AntiVir Premium, and do not want to uninstall it and go through the exercise to see if the Kaspersky license will work.

I tried my Systweak key and the key from the Kaspersky activation tonight, but the answer was that the key was not for "this application."
Since I am using KIS 7, I wonder if that is the reason.???
I sent an email, as probably some of you have, and asked it the key was for any Kaspersky application. I was polite, and do not consider that it is Kaspersky's fault if the key is worthless. I hope to get a reply in a day or so. In the meantime I'll just use the KIS 7 trial and see how it runs on my laptop.
In any case, it is not of any great importance, but we can hope can't we?;D
Somehow I don't find myself angry with Systweak either. Who knows how the situation occurred? Just one of those things that we encounter from time to time.

I differ a bit on the statement "it's not Kaspersky's fault".... They approved the vendor (whitelist), and we have emails saying "your key is not in danger of being blacklisted, you are fine". They are the ones that are apparently going to say 'yay or nay' on whether we systweak people are stuck at v6 or not..
If they are going to put us out in the cold, the VERY least they could do is offer us folks a 50% off a 3yr sub or at the very least 1yr.
I know nothing is set in stone, but it not working with the 123 release kind of sounds like the large lady is warming up backstage to me.
That being said if they don't fix the problem or at least offer a very nice deal for people like us/me, then there are plenty of other packages out there, including what seems to sound like a very nice NIS2008 coming around the bend.

I think the problem is Systweak may have gotten KIS6 only keys, not the standard KIS keys. Systweak even mentioned free KIS6 specifically with a purchase, and not just free KIS in general.

The reply I received today from KL stated,
The product you are using is supported by Unistal Systems Pvt. Ltd. company.
I have contacted Uninstal to see if they will provide a key.
hollywoodpc, although they did not make the same reply to me, it might be that the key is not good until V7 is released. I'll try it again.
FWIW, I did contact the complaint manager of KL and asked for reconsideration. We'll see what that does.
Hopefully between Uninstal and KL I/we will end up with a key that will work for the 3 year KIS. ???
If all comes back negative, I'll just forget it.

Being that the beta key I had for 7 expired and all this hoo-ha I uninstalled all KIS7 the other day and put on a 90-day trial of nis2007. By then either KIS7 will be accepting the key and have any release day bugs resolved or norton will come public with a usable nis2008 beta.

Uninstal replied that they do not sell KIS 7, and do not support it. They advised me to install KIS 6 and if I have trouble to contact them.
It may be that when KIS 7 is officially on the KL site that the key might work, or Uninstal might then sell V7.
If in the next three weeks, when my trial of KIS 7 expires I will install V6, and see how that works.
There are some good options, so I will just continue to march, and see what develops.

Well, yup, kaspersky support reply me saying the 3 yrs is OEM v6 key, as such, any issues etc is from unistal. they dun support it. At least there is a confirmation, instead of the past, guess and waiting.
so its v6 for maybe the next 2 yrs unless the fixes/patches for v6 (still yet to release the fix for unable to autio update if set to high security, but fix in v7...) is no longer release or supported...guess have to look for alternative suites. :(

I have been trialling KIS7, and the trial would have lasted until the 25th. However, I got curious and removed it and installed the latest version of V6. The key worked, and the license is good until 2010. It shows it as a commercial key.
I guess we'll have to wait until KIS/KAV 7 is on the US market, and I may try to use it on the V7 again. I kinda think it will work after introduction of V7.
KIS 7 ran perfectly, and so far V6 is running well on my laptop, but have only had it on a couple of hours.

I had some problems with KAV 6 after MP1, and finally removed it. I did put KIS 6 on my laptop, and it worked well.
Subsequently, I put KAV 7 on my desktop, and now KIS 7 on the laptop. I believe the problems I experienced with V6 have been corrected, and I am very pleased with what I have experienced so far.
I did take the opportunity to test some other AVs. I found a few that worked well and in which I had confidence, including AntiVir Premium, F-Secure, NOD, and Avast.
While I could be satisfied with any of those, I like Kaspersky the best and am pleased that it is working well. With a year remaining on my KAV, and the three years on KIS 7, I don't intend to do any AV shopping for awhile.
I also have a boxed copy of KAV 6, and hope that in a year I can use that license to renew KAV.

for those that lost/deleted their original activation code , you can email systweak and get it resent to you. After it looked like we had been shafted, I deleted all things kaspersky and systweak from my HD, including the emails.
Wrote them the other day and explained and they had record of it, sent me the kaspersky 6 activation code, went back and plugged it into the license server and it spit out a v7-compatible key for me.
Bonus is that it gave me a full 3yrs from that day, even though I had already used the code back in late March. No complaints now.

I did buy one from Fry's that is free after rebates. " }-Fry's Mail in Rebate, it's a bit troublesome for me... I am not an USA resident.

I emailed systweak and told them when I ordered and gave them email address and home address and they emailed me my activation key, entered it on Kaspersky site and got a new key for KIS 7 no problems.

That was the response I got until I went through the process I mentioned. I thought that maybe it was not good until V7 was on the US market, but evidently that was not the problem since I now have V7.
My suggestion would be to go to either KL Sales or again to Support and ask them to reconsider their answer since it is a valid commercial key.
Hopefully you can get it resolved soon. I ran KIS6 for awhile, and the key works OK for that. Some of these things defy logic, or at least my logic.
Maybe the method nixie used might be the best.
Regards,
Jerry

Sorry, but I do not know how. Have you tried the KL forum?

I read of the problem there from time to time.

Kaspersky made all of these licences work with V7. If yours isnt, then Kaspersky has done an about face in less then a few days. I find that hard to beleive. The problem isnt with Systweak, but Kaspersky and they are the only ones that can resolve it.

I took the code that I got for the "deal" and re-created a key at the activation site and installed the new version on the persons computer and it works fine :)

Yes, as stated earlier in the thread take the key-code supplied by Systweak and input it at the activation site: https://activation.kaspersky.com/ the key name should be the same but if you check the MD5's they are different. This is what worked on this pc mentioned. HTH

Hi likuidkewl,
I was about to try the Systweak key, and at the KL site I note that the download is for 3 user for one license.
I wonder if the key will work for that? It might not, but I have the download I got on the ftp site. It worked on my other computer.
Thanks,
Jerry

Howdy - Last night I uninstalled KIS 6 running the 3 year Systweak key, and installed KIS 7. I then entered the original Systweak activation key and clicked on "Activate". Contact with the server was made and then I had a fully functional KIS 7 with 3 year license.
Good value! Hat's off to Kaspersky - all seems to be running smoothly.

Yes it is. I wonder, though, if anyone has one for half-price? ;D
Kaspersky has done us well, and I appreciate it.
