Hi,

I am thinking to give a try to ESS beta 1a, is it stable ?

or still bugs ? (I mean, good enough to give a try)

Specifically - why are you "very afraid"? Other's can have all kinds of experiences for a variety of reasons. What counts is how it behaves on your system. I'm running it here on XP Pro / SP2 / All Updates and it's working beautifully.

For every problem-plagued post, you'll have some like mine and Jeremy's - no problems (I'm also on XP SP2).

You are very right . On my test machine I had only minor problems and never experienced the major problems mentioned here ;)

The one who wants to try it , just uninstall NOD32 , create a System Restore point just in case , install ESS beta 1a , update and enjoy ;)

I would use it on a secondary machine only at this time. But that's just me.

Works fine for me :) Updates a lot more than NOD32 too

Hi
It took me weeks to decide to install this ESS Beta. I was testing another beta AV.
I just installed Beta1a and it works (so far) without a problem. Just as fast as the 2.7 on my laptop and Vista PC.
I am still kicking the tires (testing), but so far I am caustiously impressed.
Cheers :)

I would say it's stable, but I'm not too happy with it. I know it's a beta, but to not be able to run a scheduled full system scan, in my opinion is crap. I have tried several betas from other AV companies, and not one of them had this kind of problem. If ESET knows about this, and I'm sure they do, then it should have been fixed by now. JMO.

Here you indeed have an excellent example of RBrx ´beauty´...I´ve been testing and comparing KIS beta and PIS 2007 on different snapshots, will for certain stay with KIS,but having a clean snapshot which is suitable to test ESS on...no problems, not too hard...in seconds I can change my mind...8)

Testing in this very moment...runs very fine and stable on my system with fw in interactive mode, passed ´shieldsup´ without any problems...I´m sure this will be a great final and the antivir rating will for sure be back in the top in due time...
