I'm fixing to clone my system drive and the instructions leave me wondering what, if anything, True Image 10.0 does to the source drive when running it in the Automatic mode ?
Does it automatically destroy the data once the cloning is done ?

I ask because the description for Automatic states ...

-{ Quote: "Note that you have to remove the old hard disk when data moving is completed." }-

In the Manual mode you're given the option to either "Keep data" or "Destroy data".

I'm making the clone to have in case my original drive should fail, and plan to continue running using my original drive.

I'd prefer to use the Automatic mode ... I just want to make sure that the source drive will be left in it's "original" state.

thanks

Yes, your original will be left intact. Once the cloning is done, you should connect the cloned drive in place of the original to make sure it will boot just like the original.

Hello sir gerald,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

Please notice that automatic mode will use all default choices (which would be presented in manual mode). Thus, the data on the source hard drive will be kept intact. You can find the detailed instructions on performing the cloning operation in chapter 13 "Transferring the system to a new disk" of the respective User's Guide (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/docs/).

Thank you.

Thanks for the replies.

I read a review by an unhappy user who'd tried to clone her disk.
The cloning completed with no errors but wouldn't boot and all of her data on the source disk was destroyed.

I had no problems myself.

Great product. :thumb:
