Greetings to all: I am a new poster on the forum. There is much knowledge and experience here and I am very interested to know some of your opinions of the new Windows Vista system. I have installed Nod32 for my virus scanner on new PC but am unsure what to do about the firewall. Dare I trust the Vista Defense program? I used Sygate on my old system and was quite happy with it. I am trying to avoid spending money on software I really don't need; I appreciate any advice and opinions.

Suggest you look in the Other Firewall forum here at wilders. And maybe a moderator can move your post there as well.

If you want a free firewall you could try the Vista Firewall or PC Tool's Firewall Plus (http://www.pctools.com/firewall/).

It's far from being free, though! 69 USD.

Thanks everyone, I'll check out those other firewalls. Still curious to know what others think about the new Vista system. I am finding it a bit of a learning curve. It is a bit different than XP.

I suggest the upcoming Comodo Firewall which will be released in a few weeks (it's free).
