hi

just a question: if i want to send/mail an encrypted file, how can it be decrypted at the other end?
in other terms i miss a very important feature: the creation of self extractible archives....am i wrong?

what's the use of encryption when the file is self extractable ???

Hi Ted, At the moment the email recipient would need CryptoSuite to be able to decrypt the file, Jason is hoping to add compatability to other encryption formats in a future release.
A self extracting Archive might be self defeating without a very strong password but Jason will give you a more informed reply ;)
In updated versions it is hoped to include an email encryption client, chalkboard & also, possibly, encrypted fie sharing. :)

CryptoSuite allows you to create the encrypted files which you can then send through mail,etc. When they receive it they can simply download CryptoSuite and decrypt it (The CryptoSuite demo will always have FREE decryption in it, ie decryption never expires from its capabilities).

Self extracting and SECURE CryptoSuite archives will be in the next public version. This just means that instead of creating a CSE file.. it creates an EXE file which has the decryption code in it, with the CSE file attached to the end of the EXE. You will still need a password to decrypt/extract the files, hence making it secure.

thanks for the answer...actually i'm testing another product (its name begins with "steg", ends with "anos") but as registered (and satisfied) user of TDS, i consider to get your CS and want to clarify some points :)

next question is: availability this feature ( auto exe password protected and /or free decrypter) ? future version ? within weeks?....

a reasonable answer, please....since without this feature the product won't interest lots of guys, i guess....

last points:

1/is there a trick
- to avoid to have to name the encrypted file,
- and to create it in pre specified directory ?

i mean i want to set up defaults names and directories for encrypted files, possible?


2/ i 'd like also to drag'ndrop files and folders from my drive onto the encrypt windows of Cryptosuite without using the internal browser of Cryptosuite...will it be possible?

Sounds like this will be a job for commandline parameters (which you can then include in your desktop/menu links) - and these are planned for the next release (or one of the next releases, not very long to wait for, I suppose). ;D

i second this feature reaquest, i would like too that the default destination folder be the "files to ecnrypt" folder.

I plan on releasing the next version in 1-2 weeks (a nice Christmas present perhaps :) ). This new version will contain self extracting archives for sure (it is already half completed at this moment). I don't know what other features will be added in the next build at this stage, hopefully GUI enhancements like you guys here mentioned. They are fairly easy to add. :)
