Which is better Mcafee or Sygate? Is the Mcafee Enterprise FW, freeware?
Thanks,

I have not tried McAfee, but Sygate is good though now discontinued.
And no, McAfee's firewall is not freeware.

Eventhough, the free Sygate has been discontinued by Symantec, you can still download it in some sites. Since there was no new release, is it still reliable to use?

it still works though there will be no updates for its IDS/IPS.

Sygate without the slightest doubt.
Best Windows firewall ever.

McAfee is not freeware, per say, but here is a 12 month version of McAfee VirusScan Plus for free. Actually I registered just to see if it were true and saw I had an 18 month subscription. I believe the McAfee firewall can be installed separate from the av/as component.

That being said, the Sygate firewall is still better.

I'd expect the most recent of the two to be the better one.
