Hi All,
I installed True Image 10 and Disk Director Suite 10. Both works fine. I installed OS Selector via Start|Program|Files|Acronis|DDS|Install Acronis OS Selector. Ran without a hitch and asked me to reboot to finalize/finish installation.
At boot, Acronis Loader runs and displays "Processing..." and hangs there. I rebooted using the restore CD. I had a complete menu (True Image, DDS, Activate OSS, OSS Setup, Windows). I tried to boot to my existing XP OS but can't. I ran Activate OSS which only contained "Activate" and "Cancel" buttons. Clicking on "Activate" works but on reboot, the problem remains the same.
The only way I can boot my old system was to uninstall OSS thru the OSS Setup from the boot CD.
Apparently my problem is that OSS doesn't recognize my existing XP.
I only have one HDD (30GB) which has originally 2 primary partitions. The first is a hidden FAT16 (25MB) used by the HP notebook for its hiberfil.sys. The rest is the XP OS. Using DDS I shrank the 2nd partition and added another primary partition (4GB). I plan to install a Win2003 Server that I use for my training.
I also tried to move the FAT16 partition after the XP partition using DDS. But the Properties|Signature|WinNT4/2000/XP Number still show that the FAT16 partition is the first partition [i.e., d(0)p(1)] and the XP partition the second partition [i.e., d(0)p(2)].
Can someone help? I'm not an expert with MBRs and Partitions and I might do more damage. Thanks in advance.
Horace
