A little premature (IMHO),

Stem,
Why do you say that?

One should read:

23-April-2007 version 2.0.0.30 released.

Have you personally installed this firewall (or at all?) without issue?

Stem,

You know very well where to post, ask, discuss, argue etc. anything related to Jetico PF.
What I have or don't have installed on this machine is a private matter.

{QUOTE-> What I have or don't have installed on this machine is a private matter. <-QUOTE}I certainly agree, but if a poster is giving ref to a firewalls ability/compatibilty, then that user should at least install that firewall, I see no problem in my asking that question.

Indeed, this is not ready for final release.

When I ran the setup on Vista Business, it gave me a BSOD.

:o

I will stay with RC until a stable version is released.

yuo can post mini-dumps and the messages on the BSOD to help the developers to fix the bug.

I also agree this is not ready yet.

For some reason i was not able to connect to internet with my saved configuration file from last version. I had to start from scratch. I had usual slow downs when configuring the application checksum table, but that's expected.
Everything is working fine now.
I have not noticed any other problems with this version.
Memory usage is about 13,000k

Is correct but it will be an advantage for development of a piece of software AND the user of that software if bugs aso aso will be posted at the Offical Support Forums of that software.

Centralized information so to speak, better then all kinds of reports all over the net.

Smokey

No.

If I buy & Pay for a release version of a program, I should not be assumed to give back bug reports and fix issues with the programs.

Developers should do that. That's what I'm paying them for.

My time is limited. I don't want to donate it for free to developers. One hour of my working time is worth more than several dozens of Jetico firewall license prices.

I accept the fact that if I'm testing for-free beta software, I'm not only encouraged, but even somewhat obliged to provide feedback.

But with for pay release version of software. Absolutely not.

People should start learning out of this mode of thinking that "everything can be released buggy, I'll just spend my valuable time for free to do the testing for the company and then pay my hard earned money on top of that."

This is getting really silly.

For a an application as crucial as for-pay security software, I expect rock steady stability, extreme debugging on part of the developer and trustworthiness that goes beyond freeware and beta feleases.

That's also the reason why I'm not using Jetico, although I think the company is otherwise nice and the software has potential.

You don't have paid/buy this firewall, because is still RC!
This developers deserves everything help from each who intends in the Firewall. Why do I tell it? We had in gift the best existing firewall for free, The JPF-v1.

Then because you waste here time with us?

{QUOTE-> That's also the reason why I'm not using Jetico. <-QUOTE}

Instead I think that you not using it for only reason, you don't know to use it!
For this that six so angry, you feel that and best, however unattainable for you.

From the Jetico website:

"13-April-2007 version 2.0.0.29 release candidate released."

...and...

"23-April-2007 version 2.0.0.30 released."

I do not see "release candidate" at the end of the new version.

Hi hiro, where do you see final?

I uninstalled the previous version and installed the lastest version.

Everything goes fine except "Process Attack"

It looks like Jetico has a permanent problem dealing with "install global hook"

When I launched Bablyon and PenPower, which of them require "install global hook", the computer was frozen.

As this version is now being sold (licence for purchase) (http://www.jetico.com/order.htm), I do believe the first post as "Final release" is correct.

Yes, of course I would expect (hope) that any bugs reported will be addressed.

I agree fully with your statements. Another thing about security software that is not stable is it potentially leaves your PC wide open to attack.

Perhaps there should be a list of credits in software thanking all those who helped in it's development (scrolling list like at the end of a movie);D

According to Jetico Developer this not a problem. But improved hook detection heuristics.

:o

I don't know how much the hook detection has been improved. What I have experienced in Jetico Personal Firewall 2.X is that "install global hook" haven't got along with the software installed on my computer. The temporary solution for me is allow all actions under "Process Attack".

Not a final, how many times must be repeated that one understands!
Being beta tester of a product and his/her own free wish of each, without any questions!

If it is not a final, why list a price of $39.95 for it (http://www.jetico.com/index.htm#/order.php), and only a 30-day trial license is provided? One has to debug it one month for free and then pay the money for it? Yes, it is his/her own free wish to be a beta tester for free and then pay hard earned money for it!

Lots of presumptions, on behalf of Jetico Inc. I can assure you that JPF 2.0.0.30 is final.
