Hi all,
I have just got a nice new shiney Dell and wonder which is the best method for power saving, not only for saving money but also for the welfare of the hard drive.
I remember using hibernation once before and having hard disk problem soon after ( needed a new drive due to bad sectors) I am hoping this was just coincidence and not something to do with power saving.
What do you recommend, hibernation or turn off hard disks? Have you been using it for a long time?
Before I have just left the hard drives on as normal but turned off the monitor only.
Looking forward to hearing your views

Looking forward to hearing your views <-QUOTE}I assume you refer to a desktop system. What you describe is also my method while at home. If I leave the house, I shut down.

Yes, its a desktop.
Normally I switch it on in the morning and don't power down until night time, its just this bit in between when not in use, which is the best method to use.

You will find the opinions pretty equally divided. Just search for "power savings pros cons"
