Hi, I have an 80GB USB HDD. In fact its a Maxtor HD fitted inside a hard drive caddy, then I connect to my laptop or PC via the USB2.0 connection.

My problem is that the drive will not show in Windows "My Computer" & Explorer, BUT it shows as active and online in the Disk Management console both in Windows XP and Windows Vista. The "Safely Remove Hardware" icon is also correctly showing that the device is connected.

Again, in the Disk Management Console I am unable to modify the drive (apart from delete - which I dont want to do as it ONLY contains 16000 music tracks only, no OS files).

Now Disk Director 10.0 latest version 2160 will show the drive, and I am able to assign a drive letter, and even explore and move/delete contents, but still windows will not detect it. If I create a new small partition on the drive with Disk Director, Windows correctly finds this. Please refer to the jpeg below:

Is there a way to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, done some fiddling round, and managed to get the drive unhidden, and now its appearing quite happily in My Computer, but still not in Disk Management, think a restart might solve that.
