How to Shutdown ESS?

There does not seem to be a way to shut down ESS. I would expect to right click the icon and have an option to shut it down - also to block all traffic or allow all traffic.

Also wondered if it is protected from malware shutting it down.

The kernel service responsible for protection cannot beb shut down due to security reasons.

Then there should be some way of quickly stopping the firewall and blocking all internet activity from the taskbar icon.

Its seems the only way to remove ESS is using Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. The ESS Uninstaller asks to terminate ESS which is not currently possible.

You can disable the firewall quickly. Under setup, personal firewall, choose disable filtering. It shuts the firewall immediately.

I'm just aware that other programs allow you to do the same things from the task icon menu. (Which includes allowing all traffic, stopping traffic, opening the log file etc etc. Some better than others)

Something for them to add.

I must admit it would be very handy if we can shut things down using the right mouse click on the system tray

Didn't there used to be a feature in Sygate's firewall, and perhaps others have this, where a person could shut down the app, but if they did, they would be prevented from going online at all? I suppose they did that to prevent malware from turning off the firewall. Is that what people mean by process guard?

I sometimes like being able to shut down my antivirus or firewall, to install something or whatever. If I could have that tray option and do what I needed to do but have it prevent any internet traffic in the meantime, I would like it. But I do understand why they have it the way they do now. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Remember that it's still a beta, many features of the final version are still missing and will be added gradually.

When I killed kernel service it immediately restarted but whole PC froze.
