I didn't realize until post-installation of ESS that I still have Defender running in the background. There have been absolutely no conflicts due to dual real-time scanning or anything, but with ESS apparently including non-virus malware definitions, I was curious as to whether anyone else felt the need to leave their existing real-time scanner intact.
I'll probably be removing it just like I did with Kerio, but I was wondering what others are doing.

I to still have both running at the moment.
Maybe I've missed the information but I'm not sure if it is supposed to replace Defender ?

Dunno about replacement, but I'm just going by how the wording in ESS seems to suggest that other non-virus malware is included in definitions.
I could be wrong.

I would uninstall Windows Defender. ESS will secure you well enough.
I'm running ESS right now with several anti spyware on demand
