WEP cracked in just 3 seconds!

Researchers say they've found a fast way to break WEP protection on Wi-Fi networks. Please see article here (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,130385-pg,1/article.html) from PC World. In case there are people still using WEP who may be reading this hopefully this well give you incentive to up your wireless security to perhaps WPA at least.

Note that this applies to 104-bit WEP (I've never seen this offered as an option, can anyone be using it?) - for 128-bit WEP (the longest keylength typically offered), this method should require 3 x 2 ^ 24 = 50,331,648 seconds or just over 582 days.

WEPs 128bit variant contains a 104bit key and a 24bit initialization vector for protocol stuff which cannot be counted as part of the keylength.

Some devices do however offer 152-bit (24-bit IV plus 128-bit key) WEP and my previous comment should apply with this.
