I ran chkdsk in Disk Director and was told that there was some problems in the file system. It recommended that I run chkdsk /f to fix the errors. My question is, can I do this without damaging the information on the C: drive? There is an option in DD to check the disk and fix the errors automatically. Is this the same as the /f parameter? Should it be done from a command prompt? I want to try to correct the problem but don't want to destroy the information on the drive. Any advice?

Thank you in advance.

I assume you are using Windows XP: I have used this proceedure without any problems that I can tell. Either way each system is unique and you should back up any data to be safe. More info on chkdsk /f ( /r has saved my hide several times as well) is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265.
