hello, Jerry.
Set the followings:
Under Guard-> Scan set "Use smart extensions".
Under General-> Extended threat categories check all except for Games.
For both Scanner and Guard I have high level of heuristics and also I've set the scheduler to check updates every 30 minutes. ;D

I just use the default settings plus the intelligent file selection for on access scanning and that works pretty well for me. I don't install the email scanner so I can't say anything about that. Recently I set the heuristic detection to maximum and I haven't had any false positives yet.

for the scan i would put ask the user or first action repair second action quarantine.
why not just tell it to scan all files for the guard?
it doesnt seem to slow the computer down.

Hi JerryM. I just went back to using Avira SS beta. I have the AV setup basically like coldplay except, I have the Guard set to Interactive, and Updates set at one hour intervals.
I see you have it up and running. I think you'll be happy with it.
Hi coldplay. Great job with the screen shots. :)

Hi Lodore,
I had it set for 2 hours, but don't see any good reason not to change it to 1 hour.
Thanks, and it is running well so far. If it keeps going this well, I will probably just keep it permanently. I have high confidence it its ability to protect.
I just ran a full scan and it took 30 minutes. I do miss the fast scans of KAV.

Jerry

I agree, good deal coldplay. I also have mine set very high and have zero FPs. Lodore, you know that 2nd PC, you really should try it on it, with the new features, it really is the quickest and best I have used, or "bought".

At that point, you either go to My downloads or Downloads and have to request access for it. Remember? I will go ahead and send hschuette a message to be looking for it. It may be morning though. You will love the new suite. And remember, they do look after their testers.:)

They sure do. The Avira people are very helpful. This beta is really nice. I don't know why I keep trying other security software, when I know I always return to Avira. ::) Is there some twelve step program out there for AV/Security Suite trial abusers I can join? :P ;) :)

Ask Lodore.;D ;D
I am very pleased to find it working for me now, and it has to be one of the 2 or 3 best overall.

Hey man, I hold the record. I would get mad, buy something else, and before long, it just did not feel right without the umbrella. Put it back, things were cool. I really got mad when I felt they were holding back on this suite addition of rootkit detection and antispam. But they would not sway or promise me crap, until they were ready. Lets face it. Most of these companies make money in the larger field of users, corporations. When it comes to us, the lone user, well it is different. But not with the Auerbachs. Keep in mind, a portion of your purchase price, is donated back to the Auerbach Foundation. And if you want to know more about it. Go here (http://www.auerbach-foundation.com/einfuehrung.html).:) ;) 8) :D

Hi trjam,
[I really got mad when I felt they were holding back on this suite addition of rootkit detection and antispam.]
What is the status of rootkit detection in Avira Premium? I hope it is not going to be limited to the suite.
I have the impression that they are working on it, but not there yet. Is this correct as far as you know?
Best,
Jerry

No sir, it will be added to the AV at no cost. Oh it is there. It is in the beta of the suite and works great.

Nice that means I will get rootkit protection too. And I'm just wondering, to anyone that limits the recursion depth when using Avira, why would you limit the recursion depth? Wouldn't it be mroe in depth if you did not limit the recursion depth?

Hi trjam.......When I was planning on purchasing AntiVir Premium for the first time, one of the first things I saw was the statement about a portion of the purchase price is donated back to the Auerbach Foundation. I had no idea what that was all about, not knowing at the time who the Auerbach's were. I think the Auerbach's should be commended, and I'm sure they are, for the work that they do.

True. One last thing. I am not an official spokesperson for Avira. So my comment about rootkit being added to the AV is based on what I feel sure of, but it is not official to they say it.

Trjam,
I'm fairly certain Avira have confirmed this on their forums.

Having just made use of the PC-Welt offer and followed the guidance here, I have one more question:
Is there anyway of turning the splash screen off? ???
I hate splash screens. >:(

This is for the nag screen seen during updates of the free version, not for the splash screen of the Premium Edition.
Take a look here. (http://forum.antivir-pe.de/thread.php?threadid=12353)
