Hi Folks
Have the fellowing problem (please excuse my english;-):
-PC runs under Windows Vista Ultimate
-TI 10, Build 4942
-2 SATA-Drives installed
-Vista installed on Part. C: on 2nd HD
I made a Image with TI from Part. C: and stored it on a logical Drive on the same HD (Drive 2). Then i wanted to restore this Image to HD 1, as a bootable Partition. To restore i run TI under Vista. In the Restore-Assistent i can choose my Backup-File. If the "Choose a Place to restore"-Window appears, TI shows only the 2nd HD. There is no HD 1 so i could choose this HD to restore the Image.
Is it not possible to that in general with TI, or what am i doing wrong?
Thanx Struppi66

Make the bootable CD media and try the Recovery using that.

I made already a Boot-CD with TI and tried it, but the problem was the same.
It's strange, in the Window of TI-Restore-Assistent where i must choose the Backup-File TI shows both HD. But when i continue and come to the Window where i must choose the Partition to restore, it only shows the Partition C: on the 2nd HD. That's all it shows, not even the other 2 logical Partitions on the same HD are listet!
DD10 and also the Vista Disk Manager can see all HD and Partitions.
Does nobody else has this problem!?
Thanx
Struppi

Uups... sorry Folks, this one is on me!
I copied the Backup-File to the HD #1.
I disconnected the 2nd HD and tried it with only HD 1. Again i came to the Window where i choose the Partition to restore.
Guess what... it still shows only Part. C: but on the HD 2, the one i disconnected before!?!?
So i did what i didn't dare when both HD were connected, because i was afraid of overwriting the wrong Partition, i klicked on the Part. C: and guess what: TI was checking the HD's in the PC and showed now all Partitions in the right way!
Embarrassing.... :-[
But now i have another Prob with TI + DD... have a look at my new post
Anyway, THANX

Hello struppi6,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
We are sorry for the delayed response.
Please note that on the "Disk or Partition to Restore" window of the wizard Acronis True Image shows the content of the image archive, namely, disks/partitions included into the image archive (the one you have backed up). The target disk/partition should be selected on the next step of the wizard (Restored Partition Location window). Please refer to chapter 6.3 "Restoring disks/partitions or files from images" of the Acronis True Image 10.0 Home User's Guide (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/docs/) to find the detailed instructions on how to perform the restoration.
Thank you.

One thing that is helpful is to give each partition a name so that you don't have to relie on drive letters which can change unexpectedly. For example, the C partition is BOOT, another partitin on that disk is DRV1-DATA, the partitions on disk 2 are DRV2-BACKUP, etc.
