View Full Version : PC slow since transferring disk contents

I purchased/installed TI 10 using it to transfer my XP os (SP2) from an 80Gb EIDE to a 250 EIDE.

Since doing so, my machine periodically 'hits' the HD when I start a program or attempt to execute a function from within a program (for ex: start a new email message from within Outlook).

This is getting very frustrating and would like to know:
1) As a result of this transfer did TI create a virtual image or 'something' that requires either the OS or TI to re-process the disk contents?
2) During the selecting of options for a disk transfer, is there an option that relates to question #1?
3) Has anyone else experienced this since their transfer?

Cordially,
Mark

Hello racebannon,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please note that using Clone Disk Tool of Acronis True Image you transfer all the data, including partitions, folders and files, to a new disk, making it bootable if the original disk was bootable. The only one difference between these disks – partitions on the newer disk may be larger. Thus, there should be no difference in using cloned drive instead of the original.

P.S. I have deleted another thread you have started since it duplicates this one. Please try to avoid posting duplicate requests in the future as it makes us as well as other forum members do a double work sometimes.

Thank you.

Hello Aleksandr:

Thank you for the response. Sorry about the duplicate posting...

Are you saying that the cloning process (of Acronis TI 10.0) does not create and/or leave a virtual disk on the destination disk that might require some form of a 're-direction'?

Once the destination disk has been cloned and is now up and running and is the bootable drive, is there a Acronis program or component loaded at boot-up time? If yes, what is/are it and what is the purpose of it/them?

Cordially,
Mark

Hello racebannon,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

Please be aware that Acronis True Image 10.0 Home (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/features.html) doesn't add anything to the cloned hard drive, it contains the exact same data as the source one.

Thank you.
