Question About On demand

I have KAV running in full time protection, etc. Will they,both Conflict up if I use NOD32 as an On Demand Only scanner, No real time, and keep KAV up Full time??

you dont need nod32, if you have kav installed, end of.

CJS, How does my setup sound? Real time-KAV,Kerio Personal firewall,
On demand Cureit,SAS and AVG AS 7.5 pro(paid for version)

honestly, it sounds damn-right stupid.

if you have KAV, use it as it was intended to be used, on-demand and real-time.

keep your kerio firewall installed, and ditch the rest. sure you can still use avg AS and cure it for ondemand ONLY, but i would only do this if you suspect something has got past your kaspersky (i.e something not quite right with your machine), which i doubt if you have KAV installed, thats why i think ditch em.

Humm, I have seen countless posters with a similar setup and you don't tell them "it's stupid". :thumbd: Other than having KAV & NOD installed at the same time there is absolutley nothing wrong with using multiple on-demand scanners, especially since SAS has a broader range of detection for spy/adware.

i would stick with your current setup. KAV is an excellent AV and you have several backup scanners.

yeah well it is stupid, if a user is that paranoid to use all those on demand scanners, maybe one shouldn't be on the internet at all.

Obviously not everyone is as savvy as you appear to be. :dry: Maybe if you scrapped Dr. Web and started using a real AV you wouldn't be so harsh. :P

dont worry, i dont understand how a user who cant trust one av, or stay with one av for more than a week to give advice to another user, or diss another av company.

First, I trust KAV,Second Im not paranoid I feel better if I have backup,Third it isnt hogging my resources,since there not real time just disk space,fourth,I have a 118G HDD, and a 250G External HDD. Fifth, why not have all the on demand scanners?

I have on-demand scanners too. I use them less and less, but it's not taking much space. SAS, AVG AS and A-Squared are the best you can have imo. I also have Spybot (i'm a sentimental guy, and it does have other good features). And others, but that's an addiction, nothing else. I'll quit, i promise:P

NOD32 for on-demand is a bit too much though, mainly because it costs money. Then again, you have KAV lol.

Personally, i'm happy with Avast!. I have Prevx1 too, but i haven't spent a dime yet.

While I find CSJ's verbiage a bit obtuse, I'm embarrassed to admit I kinda have to agree.
If Metal425 has deep pockets, hey, go for it.
However, ESET, KAV products are of quite high caliber individually on their own merits, and if your surfing is of THAT high a risk level, maybe you should consider sandboxing/virtualization as a more realistic security option.

as said above no need to use nod32 as an on demand scanner since you have got kav.
looking at your sig i noticed you still got spybot i think its not needed no more and could be uninstalled it may only use diskspace but there is no need for it with kav,sas and avg antispyware 7.5
