My scheduled back-up using TI9 to my 160Gb external HDD has been working fine. Recently, however, the back-up has been placed on the C drive thus defeating the object of having the external drive.
Also, the external drive cannot be found on the tree hierarchy in explorer now though it used to be there. I think the external drive could ne full, or at least my pc thinks it is.
Are these two issues linked ? If so, how can I resolve them ? Any help would be much appreciated!!

Alistair" }-What happens if you go through the steps manually? Can you see the external drive then? Recreate the scheduled task and run it manually.

To display the space status of your drive:
Dbl Click on My Computer Icon .
Click the View Menu and choose the Details option
Disk space will now be displayed.
If the external drive is not displayed, the check your connections and reboot. If drive still not displayed, then check your Device Manager.
To determine what folders/files inside the drive are consuming all the space, you could download and install the free program "TreeSize v2.0"

I have now found that the external drive is listed in Device Manager under one of the USB controllers as a USB mass storage device. When right clicking and looking at properties the Device Status box says that 'the device cannot start [Code 10]'
What is Code 10, and how can I get the external drive to work again ?

You need to remove(uninstall) all of the USB Controllers one at a time and let Windows after re-booting re-install them properly, Then try the USB device again
