When I do try Linux, I use Firefox. Reason? Its multiplatform; theres no need to change from the browser I use in Windows.

Thanks for replies.
What about Konqueror? Any body using it?
Any extra-features/ benefits of it over FF and Opera?
Thanks.

Just using it as an FTP client. Very easy with opening and writing the files on FTP.

Firefox and Opera on Debian Sarge. Mostly Firefox, though. However, I might switch in the near future because I am not very fond of the new Firefox.
I have read on the Ubuntu forums that the Epiphany web browser is well-liked by some people. I'd try it myself, but it requires GNOME, and I don't use GNOME currently.

Yeah I use Konqueror, Opera and Firefox.
Konqueror is also a file manager and viewer and can use KIO plugins. It was developed as apart of the KDE - K Desktop Environment,

i use opera, it's my favourite browser. i've got firefox which i sometimes use too, but it's not as quick and sometimes hangs for a second. i used lynx the other day when i broke x and had no GUI. here's the command for wilders ;D
lynx http://www.wilderssecurity.com/
i heard Konq is good for using with ssh - you can easily 'drag & drop' stuff with it using that KIO slave stuff, i think it's that anyway ???
here's a podcast about linux browsers - http://www.linuxreality.com/index.php?s=browsers

Swiftfox on Ubuntu.
I couldn't get flash for 64 bit and ended up using Automatix to download Swiftfox (32 bit) which came with flash.

Not a linux user, but on OpenBSD, I use Opera. Firefox acts like a slug for some reason (not only browsing, but a thirty second startup, my mouse moves slower, etc.)
I might use konqueror, but that requires KDE, and there is no way I am wasting so much disk space just for a browser, then use nothing else.
Opera seems lighter, it starts up faster, works perfectly normal even when the system is under 100% CPU usage while compiling stuff, so it is a winner for me :thumb:

So Konqueror is also a file manager and viewer and can use KIO plugins.
Does it means a potentially less safer browser as compared to others?
Thanks

Hi aigle,
ofcourse its all down to the user and having the rights.
Yeah I like Konqueror, a file manager and web browser that makes everything accessible and simple.

Not really, all browsers can browse your files. Whenever you download something and you tell it where to save, you are browsing your files. However, that is where the beauty of *nix security comes in, with running your browser as a user, all the important areas of your system is locked down.

I often use Konqueror, based on the security through obscurity principle
and to mess with website statistics :P

but generally I employ Firefox ;)

Opera, as an alternate, Konqueror, I use the latest weekly builds, runs fast and fine in typical Opera way. I am running Opera 598 on Kubuntu 6.10 currently.
