Whenever I try to update NOD32, I get an error message, telling me that the server cannot be reached. What am I doing wrong? ???

You are the second one reporting this. Most probably it's a temporary server issue, and you aren't doing anything wrong. We will contact Eset. In the meanwhile, keep on trying.

It seems as if this problem still exists. >:( I do hope ESET will soon be able to fix it. It's really annoying. :(

Hey Buddel,

>Whenever I try to update NOD32, I get an error message, telling me that the server cannot be reached. What am I doing wrong?

Have you seen this FAQ?:

This is what I am getting...

Thanks for your help, jan. :)

The thing is that I do get my updates, but it takes ages for NOD32 to connect to the server. I get several error messages, telling me that the server cannot be reached. Only if I try again and again to get my updates does NOD32 download them.

If I'm not mistaken, there are some more people who are having exactly the same problem at the moment. Anyway, I'm sure ESET will soon be able to fix it. :)

@Technodrome: I'm getting exactly the same error message.

I was just able to get update by changing server to www.eset.sk

Hi,

About 15 minutes ago:
Some problem but not very seriously.
It took indeed a few minutes and 2 or 3 times trying.
Maybe we all were trying it at the same time? ;)

PS: I'm thinking about to put the servers in my HOSTS file.
Anyone already tried that, any difference?

Cheers, Jan.

Calculated guess: temp server(s) overload. Usually that doesn't last very long ;)

Do you have "choose automatically" as the choice for the server? I do and FWIW haven't had problems updating. Or maybe I just update after the rest of the crowd. ;)

I have automatic updating but I mostly finish up doing it manually.
The automatic offering doesn't come unto the GMT timezone until late evening. :)

I have also been getting the same error on and off. Not happened for several days, but today it's back with a vengeance. I have NOD32 configured for automatic updates, but it only ever seems to try sun.uid0.sk, and gives up if it doesn't get a response.

I'm running version 1 (helps when supporting people who still have it). I have been trying for 2 days, manually and automatically, on all 3 servers, and can't get an update.
"Server connection failure"
Actually, I haven't gotten an update since Nov 7th, so I suspect something else is wrong, even though as far as I know, nothing has changed on my PC that (I would have thought) would make any difference.
I've had a number of customers complaining about the same thing recently, too.
any thoughts? Rob

Update worked as a charm over here - give it another try ladies and gents ;)

Even more calculated guess: Internet overload. It's happening with other programs upgrades too. The Internet is slowly grinding to a halt.

"Today's" problems are down to telecommunications services being down in Slovakia.

Something else is definitely wrong!

Assuming your license is still current, check for a firewall block and misconfigured proxy server settings. If they are OK, try a complete uninstall and re-install of NOD32.

Thanks, mate!
No firewall, (yeh, I know) and I can still connect to the Internet, so I don't think my proxy settings are bad, but I'll check.

Yes, yesterday's update did work like a charm, but, unfortunately, this isn't always the case.

Buddel,

The reason has been posted right above by Rodzilla:

I did read the reason, but the thing is that I usually get updates for other applications without any problems.

Hey Rodzilla,
What do you mean the Internet is slowly grinding to a halt?
I thought advances in server design were keeping pace with its growth.
