Wamp server security?

Hello . For personal usage I have installed WAMP (Windows+Apache+Mysql+PHP) to work with mediawiki. But some people say that setting up a server on personal computer can be a security risk. How can I prevent unauthorized access to my server and to which points should I pay attenion to make sure the system safe enough?
