Avira, the German IT security specialist, has acquired all technologies of Datapol GmbH.

WinRollback has been upgraded to version 3:

- The configuration can be set and protected for each partition by means of a password.
- After Avira WinRollBack protection has been activated, the original state of the hard drive sectors can only be lifted temporarily or completely by authorised persons with administrator rights.
- In Windows 2000/XP, defined directories can be exempted from protection by Avira WinRollBack by means of diverted folders.
- Avira WinRollBack offers full sleep mode support even for protected system partitions.
- Hidden partitions or unpartitioned space on the hard drive are not required.
- While it is running, the PC system remains fully operational and does not pose users any limitations in use.
- After system restart, all changes that were undertaken in the protected partitions during the previous session are completely deleted.
- The system is started again in its protected, original state, and is then available in its defined constellation and with its full range of functions.

I been trying this out and its pretty awesome, i messed around with the system a lot and it restored the original config just fine. I'm also quite amazed its only a 500kb download and super light on the resources.

The only problem is i couldn't find a home version of it, i could find only a commercial version which has a yearly subscription fee.
