Hi every1!

i'm a newbie here and i've just installed SpywareGuard 2.2.0 on my machine to give it a try...quoting from SG Help file:
{QUOTE-> SpywareGuard now incorporates optional browser hijacking protection.

If you currently use Browser Hijack Blaster, it is recommended that you uninstall it and use SpywareGuard's built-in Browser Hijacking Protection, which provides greater protection.

The Browser Hijacking Protection component of SpywareGuard will alert as soon as browser hijacking activity is detected. If a BHO (Browser Helper Object) is added, or if various Internet Explorer settings are changed (the homepage, search page, etc.) an alert will immediately be displayed, and the user will be given the option to ignore the change, or to revert to the previous settings.

To enable/disable protection (or change settings), double-click on the red "SG" icon in the system tray <-QUOTE}

well, i've just tried to test it changing my homepage setting (IE6SP1) but i didn't see any ALERT screen at all! :o

"Browser Hijack Protection" component is enabled so i can't see where i went wrong... ???

Would appreciate any help or advice...TIA

Hi Gianni,

Welcome at Wilders. :)

SpywareGuard should give you a warning as soon as you click the apply button in the IE options.

Is the red SG symbol in your systray?

Regards,

Pieter

A couple of other things you might like to try checking:

Click on "Options" then "Download Protection" on the main SWG interface screen. Make sure you do not have "Silently Block" checked.

In "Options", "General", all three options should be checked - are they?

When you click on "Reports" on the main interface, does the "Activity Log" field have any entries? HTH Pete

ooops, my mistake...sounds like the "SG Real-Time Scanning Engine" component has to be always enabled too or "Browser Hijack Protection" component will not work! :-[

Unfortunately there is no reference to this topic in program's Help file... :o

thx so much for posting back!
