Minor error in my new 2.7:
1) Today I installed 2.7, and clicked "keep old settings", but at each PC up-start 2.7 is displaying Control Center on the screen (and will leave it there, for me to click "Hide") - and my 2.5 would never do that. I want Control Center to open minimized / 'auto-hide', and have tried both "Open in Normal Window" and "Open Minimized", but after five PC re-starts still without any difference. Please, make it go away!
Major error in my old 2.5:
2) Long ago I choosed "Automatic Update" of both Virus Databases and Program Components, and have kept that setting, but 2.5 never told me about 2.7 (I read about it somewhere else today, and installed it at once). I've checked, and "Automatic Update of Program Components" is enabled in the new 2.7 also, but have obviously not been working in my 2.5! Will it be working from now on? ???

Hello . There is no major error in your NOD32 2.5 , you have configured it correctly for auto upgrade , it is just the fact that ESET still haven't pushed NOD32 2.7 as an auto component upgrade .
The Control Center poping-up on start-up is not normal . In order to fix it , you need to do a fresh install of NOD32 2.7 . Do the following :
1) Download a fresh copy of NOD32 v 2.7 for your correct operating system
Full paid version (http://www.eset.com/download/registered_software.php)
2) Goto Control Panel-> Add/Remove programs and Uninstall NOD32
3) Reboot
4) Goto C:\Program files and manually delete the folder ESET
5) Install NOD32 from the file you just downloaded in step 1
Use Typical settings
6) Make sure you have stable i-net connection and NOD32 (nod32krn.exe) is allowed to go through your firewall and Update NOD
You can also read Blackspear's tutorial here (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=37509).Since you run Windows 2000 , don't forget to run a firewall to protect against hackers and other unwanted access . Report back your results ;)

Wasn't 2.7 launched in November?!!
I'm surprised by the waiting time, but calmed :-)

The problem is still there!
At first re-start, Control Center showed up in the Wondows-like skin - then changed to the Eset skin, and dissapeared. That was fine.
But after second and third re-start it no longer disappears, but stays on the screen :-(
If no one else is having this problem, I'll guess that it is my Win2K / Explorer that is a little sick, but I've lost the installation CD, so I can't help it.
I've registered my NOD32 for another 2 years only a month ago... :(

Is it possible that nod32kui.exe can be found twice in:
Start,
Run
msconfig <enter>
under "startup" there ?
If so, disable one, so that only one remains active
restart your pc.

Have you placed NOD32 in your start up programs menu?
Start> All Programs> Startup
Cheers ;D

When I removed the old NOD32 I also deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eset, but nothing else.

Any idea to what msconfig can be called in a Danish Win2K setup??
Run won't accept 'msconfig'. ???

mskonfig ? I'm guessing here - but googled mskonfig found a lot of results (although some of those results look German perhaps), but I think Danes use a lot of k's as hard sounds in their language in a similar way to German - someone who knows the SOLID answer, feel free to chime in, as this is only a semi-educated guess!

Googeling "mskonfig" I found discussions in German, Polish, Russian etc. :o ;D
Searching for "msconfig" on the Microsoft Denmark site gave me some support information that referenced "msconfig".

Silly me!
"Out of sight, out of mind" - Because I've an old PC and far too many programs, I am using StartRight in order to make every icons display as they should. But StartRight will move the shortcuts from Start to a new folder of its own, making them 'out of sight' - and in my case certainly 'out of mind'...
Yes, you were both right, I'm embarrased to say:

Problem solved, and Thank You! :thumb:

But No, it was not 'mskonfig' either.
Maybe Win2K is spelled .NT ?
