Just one question. If I'm using Firefox with NoScript, have a good Firewall, and use a top rated AntiVirus. Do I need any type of HIPS? Never finding any spyware with SuperAntiSpyware, AVG Anti-Spyware, or any other on demand scanner I have used in the past, is what really prompts this question.

Just take the challenge and start to use a friendly HIPS: sandboxes ;)
After that, create a VM using VMware and learn how to setup a web of tripwires, hardening, tweaking, firewall config. or better yet, learn how to install and use Linux ;)

How is Bufferzone compared to Geswall as far as a novice's user?

Both are very user friendly. I´d give Bufferzone a slight edge on friendliness.

Sandboxes are a good alternative and which one you select that works best for you should help keep your security top nothch.
I rely on ShadowSurfer and it does a fine prevention job AFAIK.
Wouldn't be without one since i regularly bombard my units with the latest danger files/installers. One reboot returns the configurations right back to it's previous system state, and that is really peace of mind.
