New laptop bought with Win XP installed, but only a pathetic rescue disc instead of a full Windows installation disk.

This worries me, based upon the number of times I need to reformat and start from scratch. In fact, that's what I mainly use TrueImage for.

So, I transferred a full image to CD's (five of them). When I test them, by going through the non-commital first stages of restoring the image, I get the following error message.......

"E000101F4: Acronis True Image has not found any hard disk drives."

Can anyone advise, please? :-\

Are you using the Acronis Rescue CD? Do you have 2 CD-ROM drives?

Or are you trying to do this within Windows?

I've read in other threads that you may copy your archive from the CD's to a HDD or another partition of your HDD and from there restore your main HDD partition.

Best solution = an external drive. I use a USB HDD but many prefer a SATA*external drive.

Try re-installing Acronis. I ran into this after manually deleting the secure zone using MS Disk Manager.
The re-install worked.
