NOD32 with multiple users

I'm considering switching to NOD32 from Norton Antivirus 2005. The main reason being that NAV2005 won't run scheduled tasks unless I'm logged in as the "run as" user. Not acceptable with my multiuser environment and log-off policy.

So, will NOD32 run if a windows xp or 2000 machine is logged off, or if another user is logged in?

NOD32 runs scheduled task no matter what user is logged it , the tasks are valid of all the users on that machine . Well , about that "will NOD32 run if a windows xp or 2000 machine is logged off" , NOD32 will not be able to run any task if the operating system is off because NOD32 works when the OS is loaded ;D ;D

You can now start using NOD32 by downloading and installing its free 30day trial version . If you are about to start with NOD32 , please post back so that we post you with some information how to completely remove Norton and its leftovers so that you have no problems with the installation and usage . :thumb:

Actually, I just figured out the Norton thing. It will run with no users logged in. But, only if you set the scan task directly from the scheduled tasks. If you do it from the Norton GUI, it sets a different command and will not run.

So, will NOD32 do the same thing? I'm not talking about shutting down, just logging off.The OS is still loaded when a user is logged off.

Now Norton is telling me my subscription renewal date is is 12/30/1899 and won't let me automatically get definitions. :wacko:

Jimmy - I've seen that with a few customers recently, which has in turn sold NOD32 to them. I did think it was a coincidence that they both had 1899 but obviously not!

Symantec has a kb fix on it, but it made no sense in my case. The options mentioned weren't even available in my copy. When I contacted technical support they tried to blame it on my system clock.:D

I've had a Norton uninstall go bad before. What's the recommended method, Norton removal tool?

I've previously uninstalled all Norton, Symantec and LiveUpdate entries in the Add/Remove Programs control panel then run the removal tool. I no longer run the removal tool unless I have problems uninstalling.

My advice would be that if it all uninstalls cleanly, leave it at that. If it doesn't, uninstall as much as you can, reboot then use the uninstall tool.

Yes Norton is a pain :o that is why we use NOD32!
