I recently decided to change from Norton AV2006 to NOD32. I use Eudora as my mail client and I need to be able to run a virus scan on demand to scan Eudora's mailboxes .mbx files , see http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=99467&page=2
Would NOD32 coexist with another, free AV used only to scan Eudora's files on demand?
I have Win XP sp2
Thank you

As well as NOD I have AVG Free installed (minus the Resident Shield feature) which I use for on-demand scans only and I have not encountered any problems or conflict in the 12 months or more that I have been using both

Thank you Alwill. Are you talking about AVG free antivirus or AVG free antispyware ?? What I need is an Antivirus as NOD32 will not scan Eudora files, comes up with an error message "C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora\In.mbx »MIME - error occurred while reading archive"

You can try custom installing avg free and just install the mailguard component. You could also try avast! home edition if avg doesn't suit you.

I was referring to AVG Free Anti-Virus although I use AVG Anti-Spyware (nee Ewido) as well.

There's no problem adding programs, but running them simultaneously is another matter. Please see this post:

You can use it AntiVir PEC and SUPERAntiSpyware as backup on-demand scanners...
