I am considering on purchasing a license for Virus chaser as I have tried it out and like it. However I would appreicate some advice and input from the members if they have used this software? Pro's and cons are appreciated. I have tried numerous anti-virus software's out but this appears to be the most friendly to my system . Here is the main web site for Virus Chaser for those that are curious. Thanks in advance

Hi,
I've been using it for a week time now and what surprises me is VC's lightness: at this moment it takes less than 5 MB RAM (with realtime monitoring and auto updating on). Amazing.
It also updates databases very quickly (VDB files are very little) and quite often (three to five times a day).
It still has caught every trojan I have found from 'astalavistas collections'.
I think it is reliable enough to guard my computer from almost any malware.
It has very simple and clean GUI also.
All in all I like it a lot.
Best Regards,
Markku

I tried Vc before and did not like it :( , it uses Dr.Web's engine and generates a lot of false positives..
using it need a very "knowledgeable" user, that can decide if this a true threat or just a FP ;)

I have been trialing VC for about 3 weeks. Yes, it is VERY light on resources. Also, it downloads updates with amazing speed [important to me because I am on dial-up.]
What fascinates me is -- I can find nowhere on their website where one can order, register, or pay for VC. If anyone finds such a spot, I would very much appreciate learning of it.

Thanks, but that is the very same website where I have previously searched for pricing info, all to no avail. I will be interested to learn what you hear from their customer service. I get the impression that VC might still be in pre-release status.

Thanks spc. I read those threads when originally posted. That's why I have a trial version of VC. :)
Re-reading carefully, & drawing some deductive conclusions [elementary, of course] I am getting the feeling that DrWeb folks don't allow the VC folks to sell to USA.
Still I am eager to see if musicman hears from them.
Someone asked: Why buy VC if DrWeb is the same? Umm... like, maybe VC might cost a few shekels less?Come to think of it, however -- why let us have a trial version if it's not for sale to us? :P

DrWeb costs $29 per year and I don't think Virus Chaser will cost any less. Besides I emailed their customer service 3 times 2 months ago and have never received reply.

Hi minacross
Good one....... on flying to Korea ;D I have sent another e mail to their international dept on these issues....which by the way are valid to say the least. As soon as I receive a response I will post it...Now time wise they are 14 hours ahead of me, so I normally receive a reply from them around midnite my time. I have also been informed that the person that I have been in contact with is the only person whom speaks English.!! So this appears to hamper communications to a degree.....However I agree with Tech that he should have had a reponse from customer service on his inquiry. A interesting point also is they have a member from Dr. Web on their staff R&D dept working closely with them.... Will let you know their response. Appreciate all the input gentlemen
:)

I get easily confused [duhhh]. You say $29 - is that for the same Home Edition which is availble for $25 from...

This Link (http://shopping.netledger.com/s.nl/c.ACCT125962/sc.2/category.10/.f)???
Is VC the equivalent of the Home Edition of DrWeb, or does VC moreso equate to DrWeb's workstation edition?

I know nothing about VC. I was referring to DrWeb Workstation/Pro license price.

" }- Hi Bellgamn
Ok I just received a email from their intl dept....now currently they do not have a credit card payment plan over the web as all others do. They will be advising me on the cost of VC and the address for payment. Now the way they have told me how this works is. You can download a trial version for 30 days, if you like it you can purchase the license by doing a local bank transaction. You would go to your local bank they would simply wire the amount to their bank and its done. They would provide you with a license key which is placed in the option settinsgs tab. The license is good for a year. Now from my point of view this is pretty neat.....no danger of your credit card number being exposed to anyone peroid! And the bank does all the work!. I will have more info as soon as they get back to me. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Tech for correcting me appreciate your response as usual. What is interesting from VC web site is the R&D Director is Russian whom developes in partnership with Dr Web and Virus Chaser. I have not tried Dr Web out however I assume it would be somewhat similar to VC. Again thanks for your vaulable input Tech :)

First of all want to thank all the members whom contributed to his post and gave me some insight on Virus Chaser. I just received a email back from their Intl Dept. They do not have the rights at the present to sell Virus Chaser in the United States ...however they are in the process of working that out. One can download a trial version to try out. Will keep you posted when this changes. Thanks again to all :)
