Hello There

Hope someone can help me, I'm not too bright with computers
so please bear with me, and if you can talk baby language
all the better.

I have just removed my old Sun Java 5.0.9 in add/remove
and downloaded the new version 6.0

half way through running the programe, SpywareGuard jumped in and asked
what do I want to do with Browser Helper Objects, do you want to

" Remove BHO "
or
" Keep BHO "

I said to " keep BHO " but I have no idea if this is what I should have done

Could someone please explain what I have done and if it was the correct
thing to do,
If I have done wrong could someone explain how to remove BHO.

I have XP Home / SP2 / Firefox
many thanks
astra

While this might or might not have caused your problem, uninstalling Sun Java takes more than just Add-Remove as the latter leaves quite a bit behind. Usually you'll want to wade through Explorer and remove anything (files and folders) under Program Files that looks relevant. It's not nearly as bad as NAV in that respect, fortunately, the latter totally takes over your system.

Try uninstalling again followed by cleanup as I've noted above, then re-install. You can usually leave anything that's in Docs-Settings, those are normally just saved options and cached applets (it you use those) and will carry into the new version just fine.

Yes, that's what you should have done in this case. It's a legitimate BHO.
