This is an update for several statements on three different Threads that I have posted on this Board over the past four months and for the first time in the past year of trying ‘Sandbox’ isolation technology, I ‘feel’ fairly *safe* using my IE6 with the necessary minimum privacy settings (Required by excite.com :( ).

Had used version 1.90-11 since September and it worked well except for the “Clean BufferZone” function first seeming to fail to remove the cookies and then (after not cleaning for too many months) choking on next IE visit following ‘clean’.

I removed version 1.90 and installed version 2.10-37 ("Security for Browsers" {free} mine is limited to IE6) downloaded from http://www.trustware.com/ website and it has been working without problems since December.

One odd issue that needed fixed was outlined on this http://www.castlecops.com/t175718-BZv2_1_looking_for_Apwheel_exe.html Thread.
Strange that it is usually leftover legacy files that need removed, but in this unique instance, obsolete files had to be added.

I see on BZ’s GUI Configuration; Maintenance, that a default ‘Automatically empty BufferZone’ is every 30 days, I have done several ‘click-on Empty BufferZone’s (with all checks) and this has worked fine. I shall now empty my BufferZone before & after any ‘sensitive’ information or 30 days, WOF.

Now, since an empty of temps, I visited excite.com to collect some ‘tracking-cookies’ and then just ran BufferZone’s ‘Empty’ and left all my temps in place, then a system scan showed that absolutely all those ‘tracking-cookies’ were gone with no additional CleanUp of temps needed.

BufferZone’s Virtual contained 0 bytes, 0 Files and 23 empty Folders and my Red Bordered C\Documents\...\Cookie Folder has just one file; INDEX DAT modified on ‘Empty’ time.

It now seems that BufferZone Security for Browsers is doing a complete job of protecting and cleaning my ‘wide-open’ Internet Explorer 6.

If I felt a need to BZ my Firefox (with all security extensions), or other application; I would just run another install of BZ {free} for that.

Would my understanding that the use for the BufferZone Full (or GreenBorder, GesWall Pro etc.) would be to protect the entire System
or install any Program within a ‘sandbox’ *type* isolation? ???

Very interesting information on DefenseWall as a HIPS Thread on this Board: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=160789

Wilders AntiVirus Board included today a mention from an AV Expert that “…at the moment sandboxing/emulation is still very efficient. “ http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=161461#post921926

Just a correction:
Stefan Kurtzhals is referring to emulation engines inside AV engines like BD B-HAVE, Norman Sandbox, NOD 32 Advanced Heuristics, etc. :thumb:

Yes, sandboxing/virtualizing is designed to protect the entire system.
