SUPERAntiSpyware 3.5 Pre-Release is now available :D
-{ Quote: "Interface and Functionality Changes
* Resolved issue where certain files could cause the scan to end prematurely
* Limited user account support. Guest account support. All functions work as they do under the Administrator user. Product only needs to be registered on a single account now.
* All quarantines and logs are now stored PER USER. SUPERAntiSpyware will auto-migrate existing installations
* Definition version numbers are now stored in the files so the version number will automatically update when you manually update and copy definitions
* Right-click scan file and folder capability. You can turn this off under the scanning options. The default is ON
* Sound setting was still not saved on reboot. This has been resolved.
Technology Changes
* Windows Vista preliminary support. SUPERAntiSpyware has all access rights on any account in Vista for scanning and removal.
* Enhanced detection and removal of in-memory threats
* Enhanced detection and removal of large file items (even if the 4MB limit is active). This enhancement is designed to block many of the larger installer packages.
* Improved kernel direct scanning. This allows us to see more items even if they try and hide with kernel drivers.
I will be updating this post with any changes. Please let me know any issues you experience with this release.
Important : If you would like to try the pre-release, please use the download links below. You MUST uninstall any previous version before installing this version. SUPERAntiSpyware Professional users, your existing registration code works with the pre-release.
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition
http://www.superantispyware.com/prer...ntiSpyware.exe
SUPERAntiSpyware Professional
http://www.superantispyware.com/prer...SpywarePro.exe
Please note the Windows Vista support works well, but is still in development. We will be enhancing certain aspects as we move along and as Vista matures in the market.
The pre-release will be limited to 1000 or so users. Please remember this is a pre-release - so I would not suggest running this on production or client systems as there may be new versions and require full uninstallation and re-installtion as we progress through the pre-release cycle.
Please keep the discussions for this pre-release on the SUPERAntiSpyware forums and only in the pre-release topic area so we can track and address any issues promptly." }-

The major (40% reduction) in scanning time happened on version 3.3. It will be difficult to reduce the scanning time as drastically from now on, as if the scanner is not actually scanning most of the system, lots of spyware will be missed. It is no longer acceptable (in my opinion and based upon our research of spyware in our lab) to simply "look at known locations" on the computer for spyware - too much is missed that way. Many of the current scanners do that, and therefor will often miss many items that appear in different locations and may not be "active" when the scan is done.

Nick: Are you willing to make any projections on a 3.5 final build timetable?

Our pre-releases are always well tested by our internal test team and a close set of external testers before being released as a "pre-release". So far there have been no issues that would stop us from shipping very shortly.

I know that :)
SAS is fast in my systems, but slow on dated systems. Because of your wide OS support (well done :thumb: ), I install SAS free to friends/customers who have quite old machines (Win 98SE/Win 2K, 1 GHz processor, 128/256 MB of RAM) and I schedule weekly scans on them. They complain a lot about scanning times (40/60 min. in Quick Scan mode).
Keep up the fine work ;)

Will the update/upgrade be provided, after the beta is done, with the program update as the last one?
Thanks,
Jerry

I am seriously looking at replacing Spybot on "my pc" with this program and would just wait if one can not just update to new version without all that unistall reinstall work. When it is ready for release as he has stated.

What else can i add to the compliments and thanks already expressed, except keep up the very exciting effort with this and all the best.
This came on the scene rather quickly not so long ago now and equally quickly has raced to the head of the pack with even long time leaders, and easily surpassed many, so much is to be said in admiration for your ideas and work.

Yes, we always provide the update after the pre-release period is completed. Everyone may not get the update all at once, as we dole them out over a period of time as not to flood our server farm.

The pre-release versions need to be installed and uninstalled as we do not update the primary update server with the pre-release in case there are changes and updates. All official updates can be installed/updated directly from within the product without the need to uninstall and re-install. You may be prompted to reboot if a kernel drive or winlogon component needs to be updated.
The update servers dole out the updates after the pre-release becomes a public release. All users may not get the updates at the same time as we have to be careful not to flood our servers :)

I know that is a rather minor thing to uninstall/reinstall, but it is greatly appreciated by me since I had just installed your program on a clean installation of Windows :thumb:
Keep up the great work!

SUPERAntispyware Pro has jumped ahead of similar programs of this type IMO. Have stopped using Spy Sweeper and AVG Anti-Spyware ,because I no longer think they are needed. This is saving on system resources as well as my wallet!

Hi, folks: I have a quick question for Nick AT SuperAntispyware; I am using most recent SuperAd Blocker v.4.2.1012. When SAS upgraded to 3.5, does AS realtime and on-demand scanner portion of SAB upgrade as well? I switched back to SAB after its issues w/ IE7 resolved. Thanks.

Windows should not be slowed down much during startup. Our FirstChance prevention is loaded in the WinLogon section of Windows to delete hard to remove items.

I, also, am going to wait for the auto update/upgrade.

Is first chance prevention still being loaded in WinLogon in the free version?
If so, is there any option to disable it? I had a problem when I tried SAS in the past.
Also, is SAS compatible with Windows Live One Care beta 1.5 and with AVG AS?

One of my better software investments. SAS runs so lightly, it's ridiculous!
