eset WARNING regarding other "AntiVirus" products - need help???

Have a question.

I just went through ESET's online installation tutorial.
This WARNING from ESET popped up during the tutorial.

The term "AntiVirus" application is no longer a well defined term, since each vendor has its own set of "functionalities" associated with the term "AntiVirus".

For example, NOD32's AntiVirus application goes well beyond just viruses (see the second screen capture above - ie NOD32 deals with all sorts of malware, eg SpyWare, etc, etc).


In a similar fashion, Outpost, is more than just a firewall, it does other things as well (eg SpyWare removal, etc, etc)

In a similar fashion, PC Tools' Spyware Doctor also does lots of nice things as well.

etc, etc, etc.

So here is my question.
Does ESET recommend that a user disable ALL functionality in ANY OTHER PRODUCT that overlaps with ANY of NOD32's "functionalities" as per the NOD32 functionality screen capture above?

OR

Does ESET recommend that a user disable ONLY the AntiVirus specific functionality in ANY OTHER PRODUCT?

Any help would be appreciated.

AFAIK NOD32 is compatible (in real-time) with all types of security software apart from other Antivirus', which is the same for most/all antivirus'.

What do you mean ? Other products and disable "the AntiVirus specific functionality" ? No , the graphic states "not disable" but uninstalled . We can consider antivirus software products mentioned here (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/viruses/wsc/en-us/flist.mspx) . Uninstallion means the products's drives will not be there , the files will be removed and thus there will be no conflicts . Generally it is recommended to do so because you may have crashes if more that one is installed . However , some products have been made to be compatible with antivirus softwares such AVG AS (Ewido) (http://www.ewido.net/en/compatibility/) . However you can't have both NOD32 and Norton IS 2007 installed (you simply disable the file monitoring in Norton) . In situation like this , you'll definitely have either non bootable PC or life full of crashes :thumb:

Other products such as AVG AS or Outpost are considered anti-spyware and firewall :)
