View Full Version : Boclean or...?

I’m thinking of getting rid of Prevx1, as I seem to get a lot of overlap with GSS, and it’s using anywhere from 45 to 50 MB of memory on my computer. I use my machine for gaming, animation and rendering (Photoshop, After Effects, Poser) so I try to conserve as much RAM as possible. I’ve got HIPS protection with GSS, and virus protection with Nod, so I’m looking for a good AS program. I’ve downloaded Counterspy 2 beta and Super AS, but I wanted to ask, specifically, about Boclean. I hear a lot of great things about it. Although it is technically an AT, it seems to cover a lot more. Any thoughts/impressions you can share would be appreciated. I know they have a 30 day refund policy, I just wanted to get some input before I got out the credit card.

It's a wonderful overall program that pretty much covers all bases. Remember though that it is strictly a memory scanner, no configurations for scheduled scans. You can't go wrong with this purchase and it is a lifetime license. Heres a link to a previous forum discussion: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=152501&highlight=boclean...hope this helps...8)

As Mongol said, you can't go wrong with BoClean. I own it for a year now and never had any problems. It is updated every day and Service is top notch, if you ever need it.:)

Hey thanks for the quick replies.
I'll think I'll check it out. 30 refund, so really nothing to lose.
I've got a host of on-demand scanners: SAS, Ad-Aware, ewido micro, AVG, etc. so it looks like it's just what I'm looking for.
Thanks again, and all the best in '07

NOD32 and Boclean cover all essential areas of malware detection and protection. A great combination in my opinion.

I can only reiterate what others have said, Boclean is an excellent product with support second to none.
And even better it seems to be some help to wildlife, @Tommy says it saved his donkey several times, although from what I'm not sure :-)

Guys, thanks a bunch. Downloaded Boclean, and the install went off without a hitch, it plays fine with Nod, LooknStop, and GSS.
Runs as light as a feather, using about 9.5MB of memory, with the intermittent CPU usage of 1 or 2 percent.
Ran a bunch of my scanners and other utilities to check for the odd conflict, and none were experienced.
Downloaded and ran Spycar and Trojan Simulator, and Boclean stopped everything (was considering DFK, but due to the warnings I've seen, I may wait until I plan on reformatting and reinstalling XP)
So far so good.
Thanks again for the replies, and all the best.
Now I just need a donkey.

I read that same combo often and am impressed. One thing i will admit, i have absolutely no knowledge of BoClean OR NOD32, but all the reviews i've read over time highly favor them and i have no reason to doubt that whatsoever.
Maybe when time permits, i can turn my attention toward those myself and examine their results, which by the way i seen only POSITIVE feedbacks from both.
In the meantime my units and personal confidence are quite content with the way things are right here although it's a multi-layer approach i been used to a long time.

from what i have heard boclean is a great app that uses hardly any resource and
blocks what your av dont.
so if your av misses a threat then boclean should stop it instead.
I have seen quite a few people using nod32 and boclean.
I think most people use it because nod32's trojan detection isnt the best and if it misses it boclean will stop it.
but it may change soon since it seems recently nod32's trojan detection is improving.
is there any other program like boclean aka light on resourses but a better interface?
and stops the threats in real time?

The UI of BOClean is a bit old and traditional, but since BOClean don't have a on-demand scanner, and extra features, I don't mind too much about the UI. I seldom open up the the main screen, since BOClean is already doing the job sliently. I only need to set the options once, and leave it do the job in the background. ;D

I agree with others here, BOClean is an excellent app, with excellent (very fast and friendly) support, very quick at adding new malware you submit too. :)

Just chiming in! Regardless of how often I rotate my security apps, BOClean will have a presence on my home system. I've been using it for several years, and it has never let me down. I'll also echo what's been said about support of the program. Just top notch. One of the rare programs that I just won't be without.

And let's not forget it's licensing - all my family PCs are protected by it with only the one one-off purchase

What everyone has said - it is a no nonsense program - set and forget.
What I would like to stress is that the support is second to none. If you report a problem then Kevin will be straight on it and usually a reply within hours - does that man ever sleep?

Atomas31 <-QUOTE}I have had BOClean licence for a years, but it never had caught anything. What kind of security setup do you have in this forum when BOClean has made your day? :(
I've used Firefox as my main browser and Kaspersky, BitDefender, AntiVir 7 Free, AVG 7.5 and Drweb as my av:s, but they always caught those nasties before BOClean.

Hi Firefighter,
For me Boclean is part of a layer protection and at 1 or 2 occasions it did intercept things that my other securities softwares at that time didn't intercept... But like MaB69 have said, the truth question is : Did you get infected with your Boclean active?

I think so because like said Atomas, BOClean work at a layer behind any AV or HIPS and saved my bacon one or two times
BOClean is one of the top realtime antimalware that i tried.

BoClean catches if NOD32 failed, what till now only happend twice in case of a rare trojan. BoClean catched it.
This combinating works perfect on my Laptop together with Jetico and SSM. Since i have this combination, never had any kind of malware or infection :thumb:
